Meet Mr. McKinney!

Hello, Barnes students and families!

 

I'm Mr. McKinney, and I'm so excited to join the Barnes team as the music teacher this year!

 

This will be my seventh year teaching - I've taught everything from elementary music to high school band and music appreciation, and before this I was the music teacher at Grove Elementary School in Union. I grew up in Broken Arrow, and got my bachelor's degree in Music Education at OSU where I played trumpet in the band. I also have a master's degree in music from the University of Louisville (go Cards!) and a master's in school administration from OSU (go Pokes!). My wife and I have a 5-year-old daughter going into kindergarten this year and a baby boy that was born at the end of May 2021... It's been a wild summer with a newborn in the house!

 

I'm working hard to make sure every single student at Barnes Elementary has the best music experience possible - we want everyone to walk away with a life-long love for music!
